National and international promotion of the destination Zaragoza

As we remarked in a previous post, Zaragoza tourism breaks records and statistical data confirm that Zaragoza has become a very popular destination for Spanish and foreigners!

In 2016, the number of travelers in Zaragoza grew 13.8%, highlighting an increase in international travelers by 18.40%, and it seems 2017 is going to be a good year for the tourism in the city.

The promotion of the destination is a key point and is carried out through various actions, one of which is the presence in fairs and promotional events. Each year, Zaragoza Turismo participates with Government of Aragon in different events, both in Spain and abroad in order to promote the attractiveness of the city.

This year, the culture of the city is the axis of the tourism promotion. Under the motto #ZGZesCultura, Zaragoza puts in value the great festivals but also the innovative cultural projects developed throughout the year in many areas of the city.

During this first half of the year, the city of Zaragoza participated in several fairs around Spain, such as Fitur, fair that marks the beginning of the season of tourism promotion at national and international level and one of the most important in the tourism sector at global level. Navartur in Pamplona, Sevatur in San Sebastián and Expovacaciones in Bilbao are the tourism fairs of most interest at the north of Spain for the promotion of Zaragoza and we attend them annually, as well as the B-Travel in Barcelona, and Aratur in Zaragoza. 

In addition, the promotion of the attractiveness of the city has been carried out through promotional events in collaboration with the Government of Aragon in the cities of Seville, Malaga and Valencia where for several days was installed an information booth in the center of these cities accompanied by a photographic exhibition where pedestrians could discover the charms of the city and the region. The actions in these cities were accompanied by meetings with professionals who could learn more about the tourist resources of Zaragoza and Aragon and participated in gastronomic workshops where they were able to learn and enjoy local products accompanied by the best wines of the region.

We also participated in events throughout Europe such as the Salon des Vacances of Brussels, the largest tourist event in Belgium with more than 800 exhibitors, the Salon Mahana of Toulouse, the ITB in Berlin, leading fair of the sector of the tourism industry in the world, or the MAP of Paris. In Rome, we promoted the attractiveness of the city through an informative stand in an event organized by the Spanish Tourist Office in this city.

In this same city, the gastronomy of our region was also a protagonist during the World Tapas Day, event organized by Saborea España and the Spanish Tourism Office in Rome. Through a chef selected by Horeca, and beside ten chefs of A Coruña, Cambrils, Denia, Lanzarote, Logroño, Sevilla, Valencia and Valladolid, the gastronomy and culture of tapas in Spain was promoted.

In the cities of Bologna, Padua and Milan, meetings were held with professionals of the tourist sector within the framework of a Roadshow organised by the Spanish Tourist Office in Milan.
