San Jorge 2017: Patron Saint of Aragon
On April 23, Aragon celebrates its patron saint, San Jorge, known for the legend of killing the dragon that frightened the people. In commemoration of this feat, Zaragoza awaits a long weekend full of activities for all tastes and ages.
The Pignatelli Building, headquarters of the Government of Aragon, hosts from 22 to 24 April a large part of the cultural events to be held in Zaragoza by San Jorge. Among them, concerts of traditional music, representations of dances, children’s activities and traditional games.
In addition, the Parlament of Aragon – located in the Aljafería Palace – will open their doors to citizens because of the Day of Aragon. The next 22, 23 and 24 of April you will be able to know the work of this institution through a guided tour. In addition, while enjoying the beauty of the monument, there will be live music and activities outside the Palace.
The celebration of San Jorge in Zaragoza takes places the same day than the World Book Day. Up to 62 seats will occupy the Paseo de la Independencia on April 23 to bring the reading closer to Zaragoza and visitors. In addition to the signature of several writers, with the purchase of each book will be presented with a beautiful carnation or a bundle of borage.
But St. George is much more than books and dragons. To the wide cultural offer that Zaragoza offers, we add our guided tours to know the city in a different way. You can get the Tourist Bus and discover in a comfortable and fast way why Zaragoza is a city of contrasts.
