For ten days in the month of October, Zaragoza is bursting with festivities and filled with fun. This year, from 8 to 16 October, the capital of Aragon becomes an imaginative and a colourfoul city, and it displays its well-earned reputation for being a city which always gives a warm welcome to visitors. Zaragoa Tourism. People of Zaragoza spend much time in the streets and participate in each of the acts which take place there. Throughout the year, the neighbours stroll through and enjoy a city transformed. Since 2008, it has fully integrated the River Ebro into its daily life. Added to monumental Zaragoza, there is now added a new Zaragoza, the one of the XXI century, a modern and accessible Zaragoza which this completes its impressive historical legacy.

If there is a time of the year when Zaragoza becomes the centre of national, and even global, attention, this is during the Fiestas del Pilar. That´s why they are chosen by artists of renown in order to finalise their tours.

Zaragoza will treble its population, amounting to 700,000 persons, and will host more than a thousand cultural and fun acts so that old and young, the citizens of Zaragoza and visitors can find activities to their tastes. 90% of the acts which make up the festive programme are free and their scenarios are the streets. The squares of the Historical Quarter (Las Armas, Justicia, San Bruno.. and, above all, Pilar Square) become emblematic stages which become the venues for a grand street theatre festival, a circus, dancing and humour, percussion, clowns and miming, folklore groups from Aragon and other Spanish regions and grand concerts with artists of renown at national and international level. Zaragoa Tourism. Fun and revelry of these days are mixed with the emotion of traditional and religious events, like Rosario de Cristal, Ofrenda de Frutos… However, the grand act of the Fiestas del Pilar, the one citizens and visitorslive to the maximum, is the Flower Offering of October 12. On that day, the Patroness of the Hispanic World also comes out into the street, specifically into the Plaza del Pilar, to be lifted to a huge metallic pyramid. The citizens, dressed in regional costumes, then place between six and eight million flowers at her feet. A unique act in the world which impresses people of Zaragoza and the visitors.

If you come to Zaragoza with kids, you´ll enjoy a lot with different activities like Parque de las Marionetas, Comparsa de Gigantes y Cabezudos or the ‘Tragachicos’. Also, this year the river Ebro will become a big avenue where you´ll find Food Trucks, Carpa del Ternasco and different activities for children.

Another new of this year is the creation of the Zona Joven Pilar, for young people (12-17 years old) at Sala Multiusos in the Auditorio of Zaragoza. This new space adds to the consolidated concerts spaces River Sound and InterpeñasZaragoza Tourism. Fiestas del Pilar

And if you like the Musicals, don´t miss Mamma Mia! Musical from 6 to 16 October in Zaragoza.

This is just one part of the wide programming that the City Council has prepared for everyone to participate, and no one is left at home, ensuring the right of everyone to enjoy the festivities, making away with all kinds of barriers and achieving more accessible festivities.
