Real Maestranza is one of the most beautiful Renaissance aragonese palaces in Zaragoza and perhaps one of the least known. Located in Dormer street, near La Seo Cathedral, this palace was built during the first half of the 16th century and belonged to the jurist Miguel Donlope.

Built of brick, the roof has a beautiful wooden eaves, This building is richly decorated inside: over the stairs and the courtyard stands a wooden octagonal dome covered by a gallery with mudéjar and classicists decoration. It has been declared Great Monumental Place (BIC) and in 1931 it was declared National Monument. Since 1912 the palace is home of the Royal Armoured Cavalry of Zaragoza institution.

If you are interested in visiting this palace, it opens its doors to the public on weekends for guided tours (only n Spanish). Book your tickets online, by phone (902 14 2008 – 976 20 12 00) or at the tourist offices!
